Youth-led, from Zambia, since 2025

KOKHAVIM

A youth-led group of companies building what Africa imports, right here at home.

MADE INAFRICA

Software, batteries, clothing, cloud services, data and factories, made in Africa.

Africa imports goods and services it is able to make itself. Our work is making Made in Africa real, one product at a time, starting in Zambia.

A collective of young founders

KOKHAVIM is a youth-led group of companies from Zambia, made up of eight founders, each with their own startup.

Together we cover software and research, e-commerce, design and music, clothing, housing, data, batteries, vehicles and media. Every company takes one field and builds the local alternative to what is imported.

Fully operational

AREXSYS

Advanced Research Expert Systems. Our research and development company, and the engine of the group.

AREXSYS develops technology for the everyday needs of the general public. The work is not limited to software.

We research, adapt and apply technology across the core sectors of life, like health, housing, energy, manufacturing and commerce, so Africa can make locally what it now imports.

Reverse engineering

Taking existing products apart to learn exactly how they are made.

Expired patents

Studying inventions whose patents have ended, and known manufacturing workflows.

Local adaptation

Redesigning each process around the materials, skills, energy and tools we have here.

Costed blueprints

Complete plans for local production, with profit projections and no foreign lock-in.

Also a software house. AREXSYS builds apps, websites and systems for firms, startups and institutions. That work funds the research.

Software we are rolling out now

We are starting with software and information systems: products we can ship today, built by AREXSYS for clients and the public.

For Copperbelt University

Mukuba UniPod

Mukuba UniPod is the innovation hub at Copperbelt University, part of UNDP's timbuktoo UniPod network. Students and young innovators get space, tools and mentorship there to turn ideas into products.

What AREXSYS is building for them: a mobile app where innovators find events, hackathons and hub services, and a desktop system that runs the hub.

  • Events and hackathons
  • Timesheets
  • Schedules
  • Staff
  • Reports
  • Payroll approval
For the BumiHub startup BumiHub

A health improvement app for the BumiHub startup. It helps people own their health, with everything for a better routine in one place.

  • Exercise
  • Food tracking
  • Sleep
  • Meditation
For MindLink

MindLink

A website for MindLink, a startup addressing mental health for young people.

In research

NETZERO

A framework designed to bring down the prices of food and essential goods, like mealie meal, and keep them low whatever the inflation rate.

It aims to shield prices from the import and export imbalances that weaken the currency and push the cost of everyday products up.

50%+target price reduction
Stableprices, whatever inflation does

Research targets, not results. Work is ongoing.

Funded, in development

EKUMBI

A data repository for Africa. Much of the information builders and researchers need today is scattered, unverified or locked away. EKUMBI collects it from the public and from published records, then sorts and checks it into reliable datasets for developing new products and services.

The same datasets can also be used to train AI models.

In research

Battery making

Research into local battery manufacturing through reverse engineering and expired patents, adapting the process to the materials, skills and conditions we have in Zambia.

We fund our research by solving everyday problems

We build products that fix daily problems for the public, firms and institutions. The money they bring in pays for our research and our next companies.

For the public

AccomHub

AccomHub logo

Housing built for local needs. AccomHub makes it easier to find and secure verified accommodation, starting with students and later serving everyone. Funded with K14,000 by UNDP timbuktoo through Mukuba UniPod.

For government

NETZERO

If government adopts NETZERO, citizens pay less for food and essentials, and the partnership funds our work. More innovations like this are in development.

KOKHAVIM is an early-stage startup. We don't run full production lines yet. The client work we do today raises the money for the research and factories to come.

Factories that keep running

State-run projects often stall when politics change. So we build and run our factories as businesses that live on their sales.

Builds and runs it

KOKHAVIM

Brings the technology, sets up the line and runs it day to day.

Holds a share

Government

A minority stake in return for support like land, permits and buying local.

Make it theirs

Local people

Local engineers and workers do the work, and help own the company.

Step by step. We start with simple assembly lines and grow toward complex ones, one layer of industry at a time.

Clean by design. Local production shortens supply chains, and every line is planned to use resources well and limit waste.
